“This is Sharron Jenkins with Beat Street News, giving you the latest in the music world. Today’s segment is about the pop sensation: Supernova. If you don’t know who these boys are, you must’ve been living under a rock for the past three years, because these boys are everywhere. Their hometown has become one of the most sought-after cities to move to since they made it big. Let’s take a look at this perfect little town.
Outside the large city of Samstine, there is the gated community of Starlington. There are three smaller neighborhoods inside Starlington: Evening Star, Falling Star, and Supernova. Each of the neighborhoods has an elementary school and a community center with a pool, sports facilities, and playgrounds for the younger children. The community has a town center filled with shopping, restaurants, live performance venue and movie theater, all surrounding a small lake. Starlington also has its own middle school and High school, that only starlington residents can attend. Every lawn is perfectly manicured, every house is the same style, everything always seemed perfect. After it was made public that the Supernova, came from Starlington, the prices for the houses began to skyrocket, and security became stricter, especially in Supernova.
The band named its self after the neighborhood that they grew up in, causing the desire for people to want to move there, in hopes of meeting the band. They occasionally perform a free concert for the community at the town center, and then an exclusive concert in Supernova. All three members of Supernova have been best friends since they attended Starlington Middle school. They all grew up on the same street and were in most of the same classes growing up. They started their band in Ryker’s garage, and began performing at school talent shows and local festivals, eventually getting recognized on the national level and have been on tour for the past 3 years. Now that they have officially graduated from High School, they plan to move to LA after they take a short summer break. They plan on having three shows this summer in the Samstine area, then work on recording their next album.”
Ryker turned off the video playing on his phone. Closing his eyes as his head rested on the back of his seat. Listening to Josh and Nate bickering in the front seat in hushed tones. What he wouldn’t give for a few moments of silence. But that was not his life. Paparazzi, media outlets and fans followed him everywhere. As well as Josh and Nate. They were the closest he would ever have to brothers. And after a full year on tour with them, he needed a break.
He shut off his phone. Not wanting to hear the notifications of the gossip articles or from his manager KC. He hated how the media would talk about their band as if they know their every secret. He was pretty sure KC was selling rumors to keep the spotlight on them at all times. Only Nate knew of his suspicions of KC. But she hadn’t caught on to his suspicions. Ryker being the homebody comic book nerd he was, didn’t look good for the image she made for him. He was the lead singer of the band and was to be seen as the heartthrob. Keep the fans wanting more.
Running his hand through his light brown hair as their bickering got worse. He just wanted to be home already.
“Guys, can you please stop. You’re giving me a headache.”
Josh looked back at him. His dark eyes looking almost black in the darkness of the night. His hair resembling the darkness of the midnight sky.
“Alright man, what’s your deal lately? You were all excited to finally get some time off and just chill like we used to. Then the past few days you’ve been pissed about everything.” Josh said.
“It’s nothing, I’m just anxious to be home for once. We haven’t been back in six months, I’m just ready to be home in my own bed again.”
“No, there’s more to it than that.” Nate looked at him in the rear view mirror. His deep emerald eyes bounced between him and the road. “Is this about finally seeing Andi again? You know she still hates us.”
“I know, but maybe things have changed. It’s been a long time, maybe she’s gotten over it.”
“Unlikely.” Nate and Josh said.
“Just move on. She isn’t worth it. There are millions of girls around the world who would give anything to just have you look at them. Stop pinning over a girl who wants nothing to do with you.” Josh rolled his eyes.
“We shouldn’t have treated her the way we did back then.”
“You’re right, we shouldn’t have, but we did. There’s no changing the past. We can only try to not make things worse than they already are.” Nate said.
“I’m going to try to change that. I want to at least apologize to her for what we did. She didn’t deserve that, especially from me.”
“We were 12, she was 11. We were kids, you were scared to stop us because you didn’t want us to hate you for liking her. But she will still probably never forgive you for not standing up for her. You just have to live with the consequence of your lack-there-of actions.”
“Just move on already.” Josh said. “We have, you should too. Besides, we’re moving to LA after this summer. No point in us even worrying about any of that anymore. So, stop wasting your time, and move on.”
“I know all of this, I just want to give it one last try. If nothing comes from it by the end of the summer, then I’ll stop. I just want one last chance.”
“What’s so special about her?” Josh groaned.
“She always got me. She would sit and read comics with me when I was having trouble with reading. She knew how to get me to understand everything in a way our teachers couldn’t. She got me my first guitar and would listen to me trying to write music on my guitar and piano. We were close until that day. She lost all trust in me after that and didn’t want to speak to me. I know it’s all my fault, I know that she probably hasn’t forgiven me. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to try one last time. It’s been three years since I have seen her. At the very least, I want her to accept my apology for not standing up for her against you two.”
“But if you had, we wouldn’t have remained friends at the time and this band wouldn’t exist. Everything worked out well for us.” Josh said with a big grin on his face.
“Thanks for your support Josh.” Ryker rolled his eyes. They pulled up to his house, he opened the door and climbed out with his bag. “I’ll see you guys later.”
“Wait, are we still going to the pool tomorrow?”
“I don’t know. I wasn’t really planning on it.”
“Come on, I promised Tony that we would all be there. He hasn’t seen you two in a couple of months.” Nate said. “Andi will probably be there. Tony said she is there just about every day to swim laps.”
“Fine, but I’m taking my own car in case I decide I want to leave early.”
Ryker walked to his front door and found it was still locked, meaning his parents weren’t home yet. He unlocked the door and went to his room. Collapsing on his bed with a loud groan. He was exhausted from traveling so much and being dragged to all the press events and parties. He just wanted to sleep and do nothing else for a couple of days.
